Receipt for 20 Tons of Marl sold by the Vincentown Marl Company to J[ohn] Newbold Black in 1880.

Marl was widely used as a fetilizer during the 19th century and according to Woodward’s history of Buddtown, this practice was pioneered by David Peacock near Buddtown.

John Black, Jr’s stone barns in neighboring Lumberton  Township were documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in the 1930s; the walls still stand and can be seen today.
