The Leeds-Irick House is located on the west side of the South Branch of the Rancocas Creek. Once the main house for a farm known as Locust Grove Farm, which encompassed many acres of Farmland and woodland, this historic resource now consists of an approximately two-acre parcel containing the main house and three historic outbuildings. As we see the house today, the architecture ranges from the vernacular styling of the earlier sections to the Federal and Greek Revival-stye treatments employed in the later sections of the house. The farmhouse was constructed c.1760 by Vincent Leeds (for whom Vincentown was named) and then sold to the Irick family in 1817. The Irick family added to the house over the next 100 years or more. The largest section of the house is in the Federal Style, with other sections shown earlier construction methods as well as later treatments in the Greek Revival and late-nineteeth-century styles. The house is significant both for its architecture and its association with the Leeds and Irick families. The Leeds and Iricks are two of the earliest families in the area; members were involved in farming, business, banking, and politics in and around Vincentown and beyond and were instrumental in the growth and development of the area.
